12 The First 25 Years The Committee on Statistics and Compensation Insurance Costs was the first general committee of the IAIABC. In 1915, they were commended by IAIABC President, John Kinnane, on their work on the classification of industries and classification of accidents. At the 1915 Convention, Kinnane stated, “This committee has taken up the duties imposed upon it and has vigorously pushed the work [...] This report is the result of much painstaking labor on the part of the committee, and embodies their experience and best thought, as well as their best efforts. The fact that they have secured for the report the endorsement of the various bodies interested in this kind of classification and statistics not only adds to the value of the report, but will go far to secure the speedy and uniform adoption of the classification.” 1915 also saw the formation of the Medical Committee.
