11 1914-1938 Person Highlight: Royal Meeker Royal Meeker, United States Commissioner of Labor and Statistics played a vital role in the early period of the IAIABC. Not only was he the Secretary-Treasurer for three years, but he also served on the Executive Committee, the Statistics and Compensation Insurance Cost Committee, and chaired the Committee on Jurisdictional Conflicts. Royal Meeker, volunteered the resources of the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) to record and publish the minutes of the IAIABC Annual Conventions. A resolution of the 1919 Convention in Toronto read: “I feel that the record of this meeting will be incomplete if it does not contain a formal expression of the very great appreciation that we feel for the indefatigable services that have been rendered by Dr. Meeker, not only to this convention but throughout the entire year. There never has been a time when any commission desired to obtain information that it has not been cheerfully provided with alacrity by him…”
